ANTIQUE FRENCH BUTCHER BLOCK TABLE 1850s 2 Bronze Steer Heads

  
From a French hunting lodge near Versailles, comes this antique large-scale Vergne butcher's table. With carved back, mounted steer heads and double knife slats from the 1850's. This exquisite French butcher block features a nicely carved tall back, flanked with delicate volutes. These volutes create the perfect framework to accentuate the two distinguished mounted iron animal heads that finish up the decor of this upper section. The carved vertical back section can be removed from the base by lifting it up and off of the table. The butcher block with double knife slots is raised on a base, along with two large Bombay drawers with brass ring pulls; molded frames; and an exquisitely carved apron running on the three sides.

The ensemble is raised on fluted legs, whose knees are adorned with diamond motifs in the front. Excellent condition with a rich fruitwood patina. Placed anywhere in a home, particularly - but not limited to - in a kitchen, this large-scale French 1850's butcher's table will bring a touch of authenticity to any home. The height of the working area is 34 inches.

Dimensions (without the back section in place):79" long X 30" wide X 35 tall. Dimensions (with the back section in place):79" long X 30" wide X 59 tall. Note that the actual butcher block dimensions are 79" long X 24" wide- there is a 6 extension shelf that the back section rests on. I have worked with many white glove services over the years.
