This listing is for an Antique Large Solid Maple Butcher Block Table. It is very heavy, likely around 400 pounds, Believed to be from the early 1900's.
A friend of mine used it at an old butcher shop and when he retired many years ago, he brought it home and placed it in his garage, and it has been there ever since. He passed away several years ago and is wife is cleaning out unused items. The photos pretty much describe it, but here are some details.
As you can see it has many cutting marks on the top surface, thus a lot of character. The block is solid wood and measures 24" square with a depth of 13 1/2". The overall height is 34 3/4.The legs are 21 1/4 long and the top half on each leg is 3 1/4 square and the bottom half is rounded. It has a knife holder guard, as can be seen in the last two photos. I'm guessing, but believe it to weight at least 400 pounds.
Someone could add castors on the bottom of the legs to make is easier to move around. You many find other butcher blocks, but most are modern and likely not many around having this age. A very rare item that could be actually used, or for display, creating a wonderful conversational piece. Be sure to add me to your favorites list.
