Antique Maple Butcher Block by Wood Welded Petoskey Block and Manufacturing Company, later Maple Block Company, founded in 1881 in Michigan. This rich piece bears the original manufacture stamp on the end, five original rods and caps (minus one), beautiful turned legs and a good, level waxed surface ready to go to work for you.

It was used in the butcher room of my uncle's grocery store for many years. The knife indentations on the two corners are slight, compared to other old butcher blocks out there. There's a bullet in one of the legs - not sure about that story! Used as a bar, table space to make a kitchen work triangle, and lastly a laundry folding table in our smoke-free home. Weighs a ton, so you know it's solid as a rock.
