What is a Butchers Block? A Butchers block is a heavy duty cutting board. It is made by gluing thick strips of strong hardwoods together, with its end grain facing up. It forms a surface that can stand up to everyday use in your kitchen.

End grain is the grain of wood seen when a tree is cut across the growth rings. The end pieces of lumber are cut along the grain's end so that the wood fibers are exposed. End grain boards compared to edge and face grain boards, features many advantages including increased durability, gentler on your knives with less visible knife marks, self healing wood fibers that close up after use, a more solid board to chop on and a very unique look, exposing the tree's wood rings and grain details.

Our boards are all unique and one of a kind. Each board receives a unique number, stamped on the side or top of the product.
