Endgrain cutting board / butcher block

  

Endgrain cutting board with a wavy offset pattern that is divided by thin straps of end grain maple. The patterned stripes are made with maple, cherry, dark walnut, and shapele wood.

It is 16" x 11.25" and 1.25 thick. It's finished with a long soaking of mineral oil followed by buffing in a beeswax board butter.

Hand wash with wash cloth and soapy water only. Never let it soak in sink water or put it in a dishwasher. A brief dunk in sink water will be okay. After extensive use or over time, the oils may dry up in the board. When water stops beading up on the surface, it is time to apply more mineral oil and board butter to seal up the grain again.

Make the board last a lifetime by storing it on its side in a dry area. Ideally, not against a dry heat source like a toaster oven or a humidity source like a dishwasher.
