Handmade by a craftsman with 27 years of woodworking experience from solid Hard Maple, also known as Rock Maple, Jobe WoodArt's end grain butcher block cutting/cheese board is gentle on knives and made to last many years with proper care. Hard Maple is the premium choice of wood for cutting boards since it is more than twice as hard as soft maple, cherry, walnut, etc. Each of our boards is unique whether due to pattern, size, or naturally the variation inherent in wood. Built a full 2" thick, these Chef's quality commercial duty boards are 18" long and 12 wide and weigh 10 lb 9 oz and 11 lb 2 oz respectively. Both sides are solid for vegetables or other, drier items. It is fully seasoned and pre-treated with a blend of beeswax, carnauba wax and food grade mineral oil to make maintenance a breeze. As wood absorbs and releases moisture, whether through use, washing, or seasonal changes, it will move - sometimes causing warping and/or cracking. Because of this natural feature of all wood products it is important to regularly oil your cutting boards. Not setting them on a solid surface when wet will also help. Set them on a rack or stand them on edge to dry after cleaning.

Maintenance is very easy - just hand wash after use in running water NEVER submerge or place in a dishwasher! Whenever dry spots appear apply a light coat of food grade mineral oil (available at most supermarkets and drugstores), or a butcher block conditioner such as Howard's, let sit for a few hours and buff dry.
