Antique 1930-40 Butcher's Block. Maple wood, this piece came out of local grocery store in 1960's. It is used with worn areas on both sides from cutting and butchering meats over the years. It is 31" high from floor, 30" wide x 40" long with blocks thickness of 13". The legs are mortise and tenon joints.
Food safe wax finish has been applied. It is made up of hundreds of smaller 2" x 2" blocks with dovetail and tenon joints. It is completely assembled with solid wood and no other mechanical fasteners. Very solid piece of history and has been used and loved by our family for over thirty years. Excellent condition and workmanship and quality piece of our history and pride in building.
Very rare to be in this condition and exceptionally rare length. Most butcher blocks are half the length and width.
